Biography
Described by Opera News as a “standout”, Wayd Odle is a GRAMMY-nominated tenor whose voice is “ingratiatingly smooth” (bachtrack.com) and “fierce”(KCindependent). He is an active performer on the operatic stage having sung Nemorino, Rodolfo, and on more than one occasion, a last minute step-in for Don Jose. ​

He began this season by winning an award from the Mildred Miller Competition at Pittsburgh Festival Opera. This December, he was the tenor soloist in Handel's iconic Messiah with Eugene Symphony. He is a second-year Studio Artist with the Atlanta Opera, where he sang Gastone and covered Alfredo in La Traviata. While at Atlanta Opera, he will sing the roles of Don Basilio and Don Curzio in Le Nozze di Figaro, the roles of Pang and The Persian Prince in Turandot, and the role of 2nd Valse in Götterdämmerung. He will also cover the role of Siegfried in the same.
In the 2024-25 season, performed with The Dallas Opera in their People's Choice Concert. He also covered Javier Camarena as Alfredo in their production of La traviata. Mr. Odle joined with The Atlanta Opera as a Studio Artist. As such, he performed 1st Armored Man in Die Zauberflote, as well as covering Tamino. He also covered Malcolm in their production of Macbeth.​
Mr. Odle was named a 2024 Career Grant Recipient of the Giulio Gari Foundation and is quite popular with audiences having won Audience Choice Awards with Annapolis Opera, Opera Tampa, and Opera Mississippi. He is a winner of the John Alexander National Vocal Competition and the 2021 American Prize Award. He also earned accolades from The Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, and Houston Saengerbund Awards.​
In his 2023-24 season he debuted with The Atlanta Opera (The Shining, A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and returned to Santa Fe Opera as a second year Apprentice Artist (Der Rosenkavalier). Mr. Odle also recorded the role of Delbert Grady (The Shining) for the world premiere cast recording under the baton of Gerard Schwarz.
Odle's 2022-23 season was spent with Santa Fe Opera as an Apprentice Artist and with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. He performed Remendado (Carmen) and Gastone (La Traviata), while covering Don José (Carmen) and Alfredo (La Traviata).
Odle holds a Bachelor of Music from Brigham Young University and his Master of Music from University of Tennessee Knoxville.​ He is proudly from North Platte, Nebraska.
